27 November 2025: French Embassy, Vienna – “Cybersecurity and Digital Sovereignty in Europe” A. Eustacchio on a High-Level Panel

“Cybersecurity and Digital Sovereignty in Europe,” Panel Discussion at the French Embassy in Vienna

Andreas Eustacchio participated in a high-level panel discussion at the French Embassy in Vienna. The event was hosted by Ambassador Matthieu Peyraud, who, together with Business France Austria, invited guests to the Embassy’s historic state rooms for an engaging and thought-provoking debate.

How can Europe achieve digital sovereignty? Through increased research, greater access to capital, more — or rather fewer and clearer — regulatory frameworks? And will artificial intelligence further exacerbate cybersecurity risks? The Austrian–French cooperation between IKARUS Security Software GmbH and HarfangLab provides a compelling answer to these questions, demonstrating how European technology players can succeed through strategic collaboration.

In the excellently moderated panel discussion led by Birgit Fenderl, I had the opportunity to engage in discussion with three renowned experts: Guenter Koinegg, Head of Cybersecurity bei ATOS Group, Horst Bischof, Rector TU Graz-University of Technology and Andreas Grigull of OVHcloud.

Clearer regulations are needed! Here is a selection of standards that I specifically reference in my legal advice for digital companies, depending on the needs, just to name a few: EU Cyber Resilience Act, EU Cybersecurity Act, EU GDPR, EU AI Act, EU NIS2 Directive (Austria: NISG2026), EU Data Act, EU Product Liability Directive, EU Digital Services Act, EU Directive 2019/770, EU Directive 2020/770, and a few more! Nothing more needs to be said!
